About the Artist

Punchy in Pink began in 2011, when one of the ladies on Brooke’s cowboy church Ranch Rodeo team was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After battling [breast] cancer with her mother - and fighting again, at her father’s side, only a couple of years before, Brooke intimately understood the emotional, physical and financial burden to families battling cancer, together. Being self-employed, the Cargills also knew too well that the ranching lifestyle often doesn’t come with affordable health insurance. Their love for their community led Justin and Brooke to start Punchy in Pink, a name that Brooke says kept coming to her in her prayers for her teammate.

Punchy is a slang term working Cowboys use to say that a cowboy “is a good hand.” They have grit and can get the job done - they never give up. They began making apparel to sell at Ranch Rodeos and other independent events. In the Fall of 2011, they partered with the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) to grow their effort. Together, they strive to help ranch families battling breast cancer keep food on the table, cattle fed and enable them to continue their daily lives, as much as possible. Their partnership to help these families is firm in their belief that it’s a hand up - not a hand out.
